2011-12 Performance Year Report

In this school year, the six members of the puppet troupe presented 34 skits at 15 school venues. Ten of the schools were in the larger Upper Valley area. The total audience reached was 1633 students and staff. A total of 1,541 miles were traveled to present these skits, from Fairlee and Lyme in the north to Westmoreland NH and as far as Londonderry NH in the south, and places in between.

The most popular skit requested was Bullying (19), then Learning Disability (4), Healthy Snacking (4), Blind (3), Divorce (3), Epilepsy (2), ADHD (2), Asthma (2), and Down syndrome, Spina Bifida, EBC, Autism, Physical Abuse, Cerebral Palsy, and Tobacco Abuse - all one time each. The puppeteers usually give 2 or 3 skits during each presentation time (about an hour or a class period. Each skit runs 10 to 15 minutes in length and then time for Q & A with the students.

The six volunteer puppeteers volunteered a total of 365 hours of time in these presentations this year, usually on Thursdays. Snow days reduced the number of possible presentations this year somewhat.

Puppeteers include: Ann Justice (Coordinator), Bev Strout, Barbara Payson, Merry Converse, Janet Eller, and Mavis Murray (new this year). Mavis really enjoyed this work and plans to continue on into the future. Ann, Bev, Barbara, and Merry have been KOB puppeteers for 15 years or more.
