Parent-to-Parent Coordinator

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Lisa DiMartino, I am the new Family to Family Coordinator for Lakes Region Community Services, funded by the Family Support Council. I have a 12 year old son with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. When he was diagnosed, it was the hardest thing in the world for my husband and me to hear. I remember feeling very alone and scared. What made a difference in my life was connecting with other families. Through these connections we have made some wonderful friendships, but most of all it gave us hope. Even though it has been 12 years since my son's diagnosis I still need someone to talk to. That is because at every age new and different situations come up in which you may need support. I believe when families connect with one another, hear each other stories we gain strength, knowledge and inspiration. As the Family to Family Coordinator, I will be offering the following support: Connecting families with another parent or family who has a child or family member with the same or similar disability. Providing emotional support, insight, and understanding for parents when they learn their child has a disability or their child has been diagnosed for some time and is going through a transition. Facilitating the organization of a support group or connecting with ones that may exit. Collaborating with the Parent to Parent of NH Network and other community resources to maximize the sharing of resources and information. Please call me at 524-8811 Ext189; you can also e-mail me at lisad@lrcsc.org
