Connections and Buddies Two special Big Brother/Big Sister Programs
![]()

Connections -- This is one of two special Big Brother/Big Sister Programs of Upper Valley Support Group. Connections matches Dartmouth College student volunteers with children and teens who have special needs. Connections Partners enjoy spending 2 - 3 hours together each week that the volunteer is on campus. Volunteers may take their "little sib" roller skating, swimming, or apple picking. Sometimes the most fun is to be had by just microwaving a bag of popcorn and settling down for a video. Most often these relationships blossom into true friendships. The Buddies Program -- Buddies is sponsored by UVSG in collaboration with the Boyle Community Pediatrics Program at DHMC. Dartmouth first and second year medical students are matched with children in our community who have special needs. This educational experience provides the future doctor with an inside look into the joys and challenges of family life revolving around a special needs child. Moreover, parents benefit from a short respite break, usually 2-3 hours every other week that the Medical School is in session.
